About Simonson Veterinary Services
Amanda Simonson, DVM, cVA
I am a veterinarian passionate about helping animals. After graduation from veterinary school, I practiced in Arizona for 15 years in the hospital setting doing medicine, surgery, preventive care, acupuncture, and dentistry for dogs and cats. Over the last 6 years, I have spent more time in the patient’s home environment, focusing on palliative hospice care, pain management, acupuncture, and in-home euthanasia. I cherish the relationship shared between people and pets. I feel honored to be part of this equation. I am committed to people and their pets having long healthy lives together. I also have a passion for helping people to keep their pets as comfortable as possible.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. I completed my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Colorado State University in 2003 in Fort Collins, Colorado. I completed my certification and training for Veterinary Medical Acupuncture also from Colorado State University in 2011. I was fortunate to collaborate on and publish an article in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association in 2020. I have also written articles on timely topics for pet owners for a reference library at PetMD. I work locally in Madisonville one day weekly in general small animal practice.
My husband, youngest son, and I live on a working beef cattle ranch in Texas full of animals. My adult children come to help us often, and we are so grateful. We have dogs, cats, horses, chickens, cattle, and a fish tank. We moved to Texas from a horse ranch in Arizona in 2021 and are blessed to be part of this community. We are passionate about our ministry work.
